This is the part where you come in, You can influence people’s buying decisions by providing them with:
- Helpful
- Informative
- Educational
- Entertaining
- Call to action based
...CONTENT. One thing you need to understand is while working from home on a blog is gratifying beyond belief because you’ll have no boss or someone else micromanaging you, YOU have to stay disciplined and committed, here’s what I mean.
At the beginning you will have to work your butt off, no if’s and or but’s about it, it’s kind of like when you’re going to school and you have this math class…
Like a new language, it’s all foreign to you but you know you must meet the mathematics requirements for the next few months and even next following year, so you work hard at it, in the beginning, trying to just get by and you do…
Then the next higher level math comes and you still have to put in some more focus, energy, and work to get by, until you no longer are “getting by”, you have a complete understanding of the math problems and you can basically do them in your sleep, you’ve refined your skills for the next steps and your reward at the end of it all is this job that’ll supply you with a good income.
Blogging is the same way in that you will not see rewards or the fruit of your labors in the first 1-3 months, heck even 3-6 months(as was my situation) but after that, you’ll begin to see growth in areas like:
- People visiting your blog(traffic)
- More People coming back to see your work
- Comments on your posts
- Feedback
- The first trickle of sales
What will you be writing about?
What’s the point if you write just to write but no one finds and reads your blog content? This is where you’ll have to learn about keywords.
Keywords are basically phrases people who have problems will type into the search engines like Google, for example:
“How To Make A Shoe At Home”
The person behind this search phrase sounds like the person who wants to make shoes for themselves(or someone else) and can’t figure out how to do it yet from home, wouldn’t you agree?
Next, they read through the search results and click through to a post. They’ll read the post looking for the answer(s) to their problem(s) and then take a specific action like:
- Make a purchase
- Go onto your email list
- Comment
- Fill out a survey
- Go through a quiz
- And many more!
Learning how to use keywords is fundamental and HUGE to getting people to land on your blog posts and the more traffic you get the more chances you get people to purchase from you...and not your competitors.
To give you an example of how traffic works, I’ll use my results:
As you can see from the line, I had a VERY slow growth the first 1-6 months with little to no traffic - This was my time of “work, work, work”, and it also was the best time because I was also working on myself mentally, physically, professionally and personally…
And then over time, this happened:
That little flat line for all those months and even year began to increase EXPONENTIALLY. I began to see my traffic grow from like 20-30 visitors per month to 1,000’s of people every month reading my blog posts and taking an action.
Most people who start a blog will quit in the first 6 months and it’s sad because they have unrealistic expectations and think that all they need to do is write one post and all the people and money will fall in line.

How To Make Money With Your Blog(Faster And Easier)
There are many ways to make money with your blog but the one I found most satisfying, easier for beginners, and of all levels as well fun is affiliate marketing.
Affiliate Marketing is where you can Literally promote other people’s products and services without having to own your own, and get paid a great commission!
You don’t have to:
- Fulfill customer support
- Be technically savvy
- Have the experience to get started
- Pay for expensive tools
Many online and offline retailers like one being Amazon allow you to join their affiliate program for FREE and promote ANY of their products you see, and that goes for any other affiliate program...Most of them are free to join!
Don’t be fooled in thinking you should just run display ads from Google or any other company on your website because you will earn very little unless you have MASSIVE amounts of traffic, but even then I wouldn’t rely on AdSense to be your main source of earning with your blog.
Nowadays affiliate commissions only make up ¼ of my online income, the rest are:
Do you have to venture off into these “create your own product” areas? No. Can you do it over time? Yes. As you become more comfortable, you may want to create your own products and services but it doesn’t have to be in the beginning, okay?
Focus on delivering HIGH-Value content to your audience and you will get rewarded by Google and other search engines like Bing and Yahoo, thus you’ll have more opportunities to make more sales whenever you want. This is really a passive income model I’ve been using for years now.
5 Important Elements For Your Success

I want to make sure you never do so that’s why it’s IMPORTANT that you know the 5 important elements for having success before and after your blog.
#1 Change Your Habits
Your habits make you who YOU are, and if you have awful and negative habits that only hold you back from becoming the person you want now and in the future, you can forget about all this blogging stuff, why?
Let me draw an example. There are three things that go into learning and keeping a new habit:
- Que
- Routine
- Habit
Your que is like “thinking” you need to drink a coca-cola sitting in your refrigerator and contemplating the thought and action before you do it, you’ve already put it in your mind. Then follows the Routine of you following through drinking the soda pop every other day…
It could be in the refrigerator or in the pantry or at your local grocery store but you need to have it! And then your habit then becomes drinking soda so much to the point that it becomes a NEED you don’t even need, you get me?
So my point being is you have to break bad habits otherwise you’ll end up being sucked into a rabbit hole you have to consistently dig yourself to get out of, and you don’t want that, do you?
All the energy you’re going to waste, time, money, effort, mental, and physical pain it creates...STAY AWAY!
#2 Have Discipline
Discipline forces you to do the uncomfortable things you don’t want to do but know it needs to get done otherwise you can’t grow. YOU must have the discipline to say to yourself every day:
“I will continue to get on my computer and blog”.
No matter the circumstances, you will keep showing up and have the discipline to limit all distractions, stop watching that dang tv show you like, keep eating the wrong foods, and finally take action doing the RIGHT activities that’ll make you not only feel better but move you forward with your blogging journey/career.
You have to develop the mindset to say no to other people when it comes between you and your work, you got me?
The #1 reason I see SO much inconsistency in people I coach is they are not disciplined. They don’t want to let go of negative activities that don’t help them to grow, and it’s a shame to see.
#3 Stay Focused
George Lucas creator of Star Wars says it well:
"Always remember, your focus determines your reality"
When was the last time you limited all distractions and put away two-three hours to stay SUPER focused on being productive?
Notice how I didn’t say “Busy”. Busy work like:
- Answering telephone calls to chat on about something that is useless
- Checking emails consistently
- Sitting in the break room to talk to a co-worker about mindless things
...IS not being productive!
As a blogger, you’re going to learn how to block out periods of time to get content is written as well how to market it and other aspects of the digital marketing world, and if you keep blaming external excuses like:
- I don’t have enough time
- I have too many responsibilities
- I have a dentist appointment
- I get off work late
- I’m too tired
YOU will go nowhere. Rather ask yourself the questions:
- How can I get more hours in the day to blog?
- How can I get more energy for the next 2-3 hours
- How can I get more traffic to my blog
See how these are open-ended questions? You are more open to finding answers to these rather than shutting yourself down, that’s called calming down the “monkey mind”.
Right now as I’m writing this post I’m two hours into my writing this morning and I’m not stopping until a couple more...PRODUCTION!
#4 Help People
Have you ever heard the saying:
This means if you want to make the income you WANT and NEED then you must be willing to go the distance in giving your audience the value(in your content) they’re looking for. This can come in the form of a blog post and also:
- Video
- Podcast
- Free Lead Magnets
- Helping them 1-1 or one to many
- And so on
You always have to keep your audience(your dream customers) on the back of your mind and know that they DON’T care about You, they only care about the results they can get from reading your post and they’re asking themselves “what’s in it for me?”
Your content shouldn’t be using too many words like “me, I, rather words like You, You’re”. What I’m not saying is you want to talk about yourself at times to illustrate a point but you always want to center your content around them, that’s what I learned from one of my mentors Jim Edwards and his book copywriting secrets.
#5 Stay Consistent
You’re going to have times where you just want to sit back and relax, you’ll want to take a day off to “cool down”, but 1. There’s no room or time for that and 2. You can’t “rest” unless you’ve already been consistent.
Those who publish blog posts consistently with Quality content will WIN. You’ll be able to beat your competition so badly they’ll ask themselves “who the heck is that?”
It’s important you have a plan of action every single day so you’re not just wandering and waiting around, diddling on your phone with social media, and nonsense until some idea hits you in the head.
You will be more consistent when you have a daily plan of action to get massive results and outcomes, this will push you to stay the course with consistency.
#6 Be Patient
Of all things, learn to become patient. I remember being bad at this, I felt like I deserved to have this $1,000+ income in a year with my blog and that I’d be taking a vacation to who knows where…
But I quickly learned this is as much a patience game as it is a lifestyle. You’ve been programmed by society and our economy that you must go to school, get a great degree, and then enter the workforce, get a 401k built up, a Roth IRA and then wait until social security kicks in at the and of your life...SAY WHAT!
The reality is that’s far from the truth these days. So many people want instant gratification and never understand what it means to delay it, and until you learn how instant gratification works, you won’t have much patience at all.
One way you’ll have more patience is by just putting your head down and cranking out quality content and expecting nothing in return for the first 1-3 months and even more. Take it from me, Even when I get the traffic I wanted, the money, I’m still not happy…
I want the next thing to come. Patience is a virtue and starts getting used to it right now.
